Sat 17/10/2015 Kenny White Kenny is the bluesiest jazz piano playing singer-songwriter I know. He performed here two years ago and nailed it. At eight years old, upon being asked whether he’d practiced this week’s piano lesson, Kenny said, “yeah…but HERE’S what I wrote.” Since when he has gone on to write for film, TV and accumulated fans like David Crosby (Stills&Nash) and multi-award (Oscar and Grammy) winning Will Jennings, he has huge respect amongst artists the World over. His lyrics are intelligent, funny and his music reflects the enormous gray matter from which he writes. Supporting Kenny tonight and making his debut will be Ike Greenwood. Also on keys with some of his own material and some you may know, either way Ike is just 14 years old and someone to watch.

Gig 3rd Oct Jesse Terry & Sharon Lewis
Posted by Richard on September 27, 2015
We’re back with another stunning night of music food and entertainment this coming Saturday
Jesse Terry “Jesse is a troubadour in the classic sense. His songs and voice remind one of James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, and even Ryan Adams. He writes with true craft, and his melodies linger with you long after just one listen. He sings the melodies with passion and believability every time. It is easy to be struck by how great his songs are and how Jesse delivers them with such ease.”
Sharon Lewis Much revered for her tender and heartfelt songs, enchanting songstress, Sharon Lewis weaves a rare and compelling spell with delicate vocals and piano/guitar playing.
Formerly of the highly regarded female duo Pooka, whose union spanned a decade releasing four albums and several EPs to great acclaim (‘so fine, it’s almost worrying!’ **** Q Magazine). Sharon has enjoyed a diverse musical career writing and recording with eclectic artists such as Orbital (Middle Of Nowhere) and 1 Giant Leap (What About Me?) which featured
artists such as Michael Stipe and KD Lang; she also performed alongside Ani Difranco and Martin Carthy in Anais Mitchell’s brilliant Folk Opera ‘Hadestown’.
Sharon is now promoting her most recent album en-titled Roses At The Top – a gentle and poignant work that takes the listener on an emotional journey through the hearts valleys and rising mists up to the top of the mountain
where wild roses are rumoured to grow. Themes of love, longing and transformation take precedence.
One of her biggest fans is Mark Abis, whom you will have seen perform here…and as an acclaimed singer-songwriter himself, will give you an idea of just how good she is..

Gig-Sat 19th Melinda Ortner & Jazz Morely

Sat 19/09/2015 Melinda Ortner and Jazz Morley
Melinda has a unique sound, and certainly of the quality of Regina Spektor, with an emotive, smoky voice combined with her keyboard. She gives you the feeling of being in some hazy city at dusk amid the noise and the chaos, wandering through the passing crowd, lost in your thoughts. She writes amazing songs, plays wonderful piano, and to top it off, amazing unique voice. She started music from her father’s footsteps, now she’s recording her first full length album, making music videos and being shopped around for a record deal. After comparisons to Fiona Apple, Muse and Alicia Keys, she’s more than on her way.
Jazz has played here before, many times, again, use this as a measure of how exciting she is. Recently having her first national airplay on BBC Radio two with award winning DJ and music pundit Dermot O’Leary. She is as unpretentious as they come, utterly the girl next door, with a voice to make you weep as she effortlessly pours out her heart with a rich bluesy style to her accomplished piano playing…we love her.
If you’re planning to come…word is..book early! Mail me!

Gig 5th Sept Will Mcnicol & Luke Selby
Posted by Richard on August 17, 2015
Sat 05/09/2015 Luke&Will …yep… this is Will Mcnicol and the one and onlyLuke Selby a collaboration/union of two of the finest musicians in their field. Will Acoustic Guitarist GB 2011 (since when no one has been awarded the title)..so remains the champ! Luke is an accomplished songwriter and musician in his own right and is already acclaimed as one of the finest drummers in the UK…their musical collaboration is as you might imagine, extraordinary. The pair were hand-picked to perform alongside Antonio Forcione the multi award winning finger-style guitarist. Having witnessed the event, I have to say, between Will and Antonio, aside of the twenty years age difference, there’s nothing to separate their skill. Will on the other hand composes bigger music and can be more realistically compared to Einaudi .
Gig 15th Aug Beth Rowley & Mark Abis
Posted by Richard on July 28, 2015
Sat 15/08/2015 Beth Rowley and Mark Abis Beth is an artist I have followed and known of for a few years. She has appeared on stage with some giants of the music world including Burt Bacharach, David Arnold (James Bond) and as Angelo Badalamenti‘s personal guest (David Lynch’s right hand man) at Ghent film Festival.
Following her top 10 album ‘Little Dreamer‘ (nominated for a Brit Award) her much awaited second album is just around the corner! This is such a coup for The Drawingroom as Beth has only performed at handful of select sell-out shows each year. The last time I saw this British Blues and Soul singer/songwriter, was in front of 20,000 people. Beth told me ‘I’ve been close to releasing new music a few times, but it hasn’t been ready so I’ve waited.” Recently she teamed up with the acclaimed Producer Abrahams, (Paolo Nutini, Nick Cave and Brian Eno) she continued “Now, working with Leo I feel like its finally ready. I cant wait to start performing it live’…so this is a pre-album, preview gig and only those in the know will be here! Opening for Beth on the night is a Drawingroom darling, Mark Abis, an artist in his own right whose music was made famous in Buffy the Vampire and Mark is one of Three Pilgrims: Mark was described as ‘one to watch’ by rock legend Joe Boyd (Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, REM) “My vote for one of the best of the new generation.”
1stAug Gig-Jon Kensie&Big Sixes
Posted by Richard on July 23, 2015
Sat 01/08/2015 Jon Kenzie Big Sixes Jon is a full-time professional musician whom I met at Glastonbury almost twelve years ago. It took a further seven years to organise a date here, and he was just awesome. He sings the blues in a way few can connect at such a soulful level. His smokey gritty voice along with his own original music, creates his unique and definitive sound. This is a welcome return for the Big Sixes..local lads whose music plays here every day. The evening will open with a short set from Harry Phillips.
Gig 4th July – Three Pilgrims&Eva Abraham
Posted by Richard on June 23, 2015
Sat 04/07/2015 The Three Pilgrims, an exciting trilogy of experience and skill. The band formed when the paths of three very individual musicians, already accomplished in their own right, fortuitously converged in the fall of 2013. Within a few months of forming, word of mouth ensured a steady increase in attendance at their small West London gigs. Soon Three Pilgrims were to appear at London’s Bush Hall in support of sixties folk singer Beverley Martyn and received invitations to play at various festivals before they even had a chance to write a bio let alone record anything.
In the last year and a half, they have played at various festivals and venues in London and across the country and have been drawing crowds ever since. Among them, Love Supreme Festival, Live On The Wye, The Hawkhurst Vault, Bush Hall, The Drawingroom and Green Note. Embracing both British and American folk & blues traditions their lyrics are bittersweet, edgy and human. Some are simply heart-breaking.
Support comes from Eva Abraham (accompanied by Drew) a dream team of music, Energetic, commanding, uplifting, tender and harmonious duets.
Eva & Drew deliver real songs direct to the listeners heart. They bring flavours of folk, Country… Ska.. Gypsy and the blues …..their influences are endless….book now to ensure you get a place at this event.
Gig 20th June 2015-Hattie Briggs&Natalie Gelman
Posted by Richard on June 15, 2015
Sat 20/06/2015 Welcome to the most important and significant gig so far! These are both stunning artists Hattie Briggs who ahead of the Cambridge Folk Festival this year, it seems she has been permanently on the go This rising Gloucestershire folk star Hattie was runner up for the coveted Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2015. With a voice as distinctive as Eva Cassidy, music as memorable as Carol King, like so many special musicians, Hattie has magically drawn a whole wealth of talent around her as well Hattie herself supporting some serious name across the UK. Listen just once to her voice and if it does not penetrate your soul..talk to me! Supporting Hattie tonight is Natalie Gelman , on tour from the US and really excited about her coming too. More gritty and with an edge, Natalie is a feisty and charismatic girl who clearly and justifiably has big ambitions. I hope you get to hear them both, tickets already selling fast and if you cannot get to be here, you can listen live as we broadcast live…will post the link nearer the date.

Sat 16/05/2015 Ruarri Joseph Such a great sound…Discovered at Glastonbury 2014 by me; what else has been said of him? “One of our best songwriters and lyricists” – The Times “As wise as a 70 year old Johnny Cash” – NME “Genius…a breath of the freshest air” – Observer “Like a modern Cat Stevens” – Paolo Nutini “Stunning” – Claudia Winkleman, BBC Radio2″ & Paul Diello who was to appear, has been taken ill. I am excited and delighted to announce that Jasmine Rodgers has stepped in. Since 2010 Jasmine has been gigging frequently as a solo performer, supporting her father at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, and at Guilfest in 2010 and 2011. She performed at the Venice Biennale in 2011. She has played the London circuit frequently (The Bedford, The Vibe Bar, The Underbelly, The Social, The Proud, Camden and The Barfly etc). She has supported Scott Matthews, working with Dan Carey (producer and co writer for Lianne Le Havas, Emiliana Torrini, Franz Ferdinand and the Mystery Jets among others) on her newest material, and she is currently writing a new album of songs – about life and the way she sees it….she’s really special, so make sure you get to listen and see her play here in the live link, starting at 20:15 GMT
