Gig 18th July Mim Grey & Gareth Dunlop

Sat 18/07/2015              Mim Grey mim15 & Garath Dunlop garathdunlop
When Sir Tom Jones said “She’s My favourite singer”  and Michael Ball  “the most beautiful voice to come out of the UK in a very long time” you will know we’ve done it again… another evening of World Class entertainment. Robert Elms of BBC Radio London added “She’s rather good & rather gorgeous but don’t let that influence you!”  Mim evokes the  sounds of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell or Shania Twain  but conjures up a life lived through high-heeled boots, blue jeans, curling tongs, late nights and love lost and found. Support comes from  Gareth Dunlop, 25 born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Gareth was hailed “One to Watch”  by BBC Radio Ulster. Has opened for Jeff Beck, Jools Holland, Nanci Griffith, Angus & Julia Stone, Paul Carrack, The Steeldrivers, Imelda May and more; his songs have been featured in numerous hit television series including Cougar Town,” “One Tree Hill,” “Private Practice,” “Army Wives,“Life Unexpected,” and more Young Songwriter of the Year at the Annual Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival.

Gig 15th Aug Beth Rowley & Mark Abis

Sat 15/08/2015               Beth Rowley  betheditand Mark Abis markabisBeth is an artist I have followed and known of for a few years. She has appeared on stage with some giants of the music world including Burt Bacharach, David Arnold (James Bond) and as Angelo Badalamenti‘s personal guest (David Lynch’s right hand man) at Ghent film Festival.

Following her top 10 album Little Dreamer Little Dreamer(nominated for a Brit Award) her much awaited second album is just around the corner!  This is such a coup for The Drawingroom as Beth has only performed at handful of select sell-out shows each year. The last time I saw this British Blues and Soul singer/songwriter, was in front of 20,000 people. Beth told me ‘I’ve been close to releasing new music a few times, but it hasn’t been ready so I’ve waited.” Recently she teamed up with the acclaimed Producer  Abrahams, (Paolo Nutini, Nick Cave and Brian Eno) she continued “Now, working with Leo I feel like its finally ready. I cant wait to start performing it live’…so this is a pre-album, preview gig and only those in the know will be here! Opening for Beth on the night is a Drawingroom darling, Mark Abis, an artist in his own right whose music was made famous in Buffy the Vampire and Mark is one of Three Pilgrims: Mark was described as ‘one to watch’ by rock legend Joe Boyd (Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, REM) “My vote for one of the best of the new generation.”

1stAug Gig-Jon Kensie&Big Sixes

Sat 01/08/2015              Jon Kenzie      Jon Kenzie Big Sixes bigsixes  Jon is a full-time professional musician whom I met at Glastonbury almost twelve years ago. It took a further seven years to organise a date here, and he was just awesome. He sings the blues in a way few can connect at such a soulful level. His smokey gritty voice along with his own original music, creates his unique and definitive sound.  This is a welcome return for the Big Sixes..local lads whose music plays here every day. The evening will open with a short set from Harry Phillips.
